Summer's hot, but art is cool!




Art's Cool is Museo Pambata's summer workshop program designed to harness a child's potential in the various arts.

Guided by accomplished artists and expert facilitators, kids learn and hone their craft in an environment of fun and discovery uniquely provided by a children's interactive musem.

Enroll in Museo Pambata's cool summer school for the arts! Enrollment starts March 01, 2012 and classes start on April 10, 2012.



BASIC ART


1. BASIC ART FOR CHILDREN 4-7 YEARS OLD
Help your child discover the artist within by joining the creative sessions which makes use of play and other fun activities. Facilitator Hubert Fucio has been an Art's Cool teacher since 2003. He is an award-winning children's book illustrator and a member of Ang InK (Ang Ilustracor ng Kabataan). He has facilitated numerous art workshops for pre-school children and book illustration for teens and adults.

ADVANCED ART

2. ADVANCED ART FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS 8 TO 14 YEARS OLD
Join this integrated art workshop with lessons from mask designing, sculpture, and painting. Discover other areas visual arts through visits to galleries and museums that encourage appreciation of the arts. Facilitating the workshop is UP Fine Arts graduate Marc Cosico, who currently teaches at the Philippine High School for the Arts. He was awarded the Grand Prize for sculpture at the 2010 Metrobank Art and Design Excellence awards. He has been an Art's Cool teacher since 2003.

THEATER WORKSHOPS

THEATER WORKSHOPS with Sipat Lawin Ensemble
The Children’s Musical Theater course is a well-rounded performing arts program for children. The course involves acting, singing and dance workshops and mounting the mini-production to be presented in front of a live audience at the end of the program. The performance objectives indicates that the student will: free his body and imagination through interpreting children’s literary works in mime and dance form; allow students the opportunity to express themselves; build confidence and self-awareness among youngsters; integrate language, kinesthetic skills and values learning thru play and empower students to reach their creative potential at an early age.

About Sipat Lawin Ensemble

Sipat Lawin Ensemble is an edge-work site-specific theater company composed of the young Theater Arts alumni of the Philippine High School for the Arts and their collaborators. The Ensemble focuses on creating new works for the stage to be performed in alternative performance spaces. Sipat Lawin engages in ensemble and collaborative work as the group aims to develop a shared urban community theater experience among artists and audiences inside and/or outside the four walls of the theater.

Sipat Lawin derives its name from Dulaang Sipat Lawin, the resident theatre company of more than 30 years of the Philippine High School for the Arts in Mt. Makilng. The name depicts the freely roaming hawks of Mt. Makiling whose broad range of sight reflects the company’s scope of theatre aesthetics, development, social involvement, awareness and sense of artistic creativity and freedom.



CREATIVE WRITING

6. CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN

Learn how to effectively and creatively write stories. The workshop is a complete guide to writing stories and the effective use of story's important elements.
Facilitator Genaro Gojo Cruz has written numerous children's storybooks, two of which has been awarded the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature. He currently teaches at the De La Salle University.

STORYTELLING

 7. THE ART OF STORYTELLING WORKSHOP
The Art of Storytelling Workshop is geared towards the promotion of storytelling as an art form offered for children and adults. Storytelling as a literary activity will surely improve reading and comprehension skills through fun approach and strategy. The workshop will also enhance public speaking skills for adults.
