Globe Business’ Affordable Postpaid Solutions Protect Entrepreneurs from “Bill Shock”

Postpaid plans are ideal for Filipino entrepreneurs who prefer to enjoy a features-rich mobile phone and data account that’s always ready—without the service cut-offs that happen when, say, a pre-paid plan runs out of load. The downside, of course, is the trauma that can happen when the entrepreneur receives his or her monthly bill. This trauma is so significant and distressing that it already has a name: “bill shock”.

Globe Business provides postpaid subscribers with Business Plus Plan Zero--which comes with no pre-determined postpaid plan. Instead, it allows postpaid subscribers to choose the set of services that best fits their needs. Those who are heavily dependent on texting, for example, can choose  from  Unli  Text  (P200)  or Unlitext All (P600). Business Plus Plan Zero provides quality, affordable, and reliable services and protects post-paid subscribers from the trauma of "bill shock" which is experienced when they receive unexpectedly high billings.
Are you very dependent on making business calls but are afraid of "bill shock"? Traumatic, unexpectedly high billings are prevented by Business Plus Plan Zero through reliable and affordable services that are tailored to post-paid subscribers' needs. Make those important calls to clients and partners by choosing from the   following services:  Unli Call (P300), Duo (P399), and Super Duo (P499). All these are available only through Globe Business

To prevent bill shock and the distress it causes, Globe Business has come up with postpaid solutions that keep entrepreneurs happy with a variety of customized, reliable services that are also very affordable. In this way, entrepreneurs can keep communications costs down while maximizing the benefits brought to their business by telecoms technology.

These Globe Business postpaid solutions are perfect for entrepreneurs who do business while on the go: they are assured that wherever they are, they are backed by  by a postpaid plan that provides instant communication and access to critical data for decision-making and deal-making.

Business Plus Plan Zero allows you to build your own service package. Plan Zero means it comes without an offered postpaid plan. Instead, it focuses on specific services that cater to specific needs. Business Plus Plan Zero comes in four groups of services, each with their own primers.

If you are interested in enhancing your calling opportunities and expanding your reach to a wide range of networks, pick from the following services: UnliBloop (P100), Unli Call (P300), Duo (P399), Super Duo (P499) or 100 Local Calls (P400).

However, if you are are more inclined to sending messages, you might opt for a different set of primers. Choose from 300 Local Texts (P100), Unli Text (P200) or Unlitext All (P600).

For those who need quick access to their e-mails, as well as the internet, these services may be of use: 100 MB worth of mobile browsing (P100) or Unli Data (P1000).

Lastly, if you have a Blackberry and need services that are specific to your phone, there are also primers for you to choose from: BIS License (P400), BES License (P500), Unli BIS (P600) or Unli BES (P1000).

However, if you are looking for a plan to accompany these features, you should sign up for Globe Business' Business Flex. Avail for any of their consumbale plans: Plan 500, Plan 800, Plan 1200, Plan 1800, Plan 2500 and Plan 3500. Plan services 800 and above are also welcomed to add one primer service. Choose from Unli Call, Unli Text, Unli Text All, Unli Data, Unli BIS and Unli BES. The rest of the primer services may be made available as add ons.

Be aware that primers attached to Business Flex are deducted from your consumable amount. Primers cannot exceed their MSF and are renewed and charged full against the consumable amount ever 30-days.

Running a business can be demanding but investing in a Globe Business postpaid plan will help run your business smoothly. Discover how using telecoms technology from Globe Business can give you more time for the most important things in life. Globe Business reaffirms commitment to make business better for Filipino entrepreneurs

As the year comes to a close, Globe Business is doubling its efforts to provide Filipino entrepreneurs operating small and medium businesses or SMBs a complete range of solutions that can help maximize their business operations at lesser cost.

Globe Business reaffirms its commitment to Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) by finding ways for them to do business more efficiently and help drive their business’ growth by using telecommunications technology. Globe Business call, text and data plans let SMBs cut the cost on their mobile phone bills and customize plans according to their needs.

Globe Business stores and protects Small and Medium Businesses’ vital files through Globe Business Data Centers—technologically advanced, highly secured facilities built for storing and managing a company’s mission critical information. Globe Business Data Centers enable co-location, dedicated service hosting, LAN-based Internet, media storage, disaster recovery services, and email hosting.  They prevent the loss of data due to a computer virus, deliberate hacking, spying or data theft; or computer hardware/system failure, saving time and money

“We see the end of the year as a time for taking stock of how we’ve done our mission of providing ideal solutions to Filipino entrepreneurs. It’s time for us to use hindsight in assessing our performance and for renewing our commitment to make business better for SMBs,” said Manny Escosa, Globe Business Marketing Head for Small and Medium Business Segments.

Escosa adds that 2012 has been a good year for Globe Business as Filipino entrepreneurs have become more aware of the advantages that information technology can bring to their businesses.

“Information and telecoms technology function as an equalizer for SMBs who compete with much larger businesses. For example, a Filipino entrepreneurs would no longer have to set up an office or distribution site overseas to reach Filipinos living overseas.

“All the SMB has to do nowadays is create a website and put it online—it’s not a huge expense to do that, but that already lets the SMB reach customers and clients locally and overseas. But that’s not enough. Information and telecoms technology has to be backed by a reliable network. Without a reliable network, the full power of the technology itself will not be maximized,” explained Escosa.

With Globe Business as the solutions and network provider of SMBs, the latter can level the playing field even with larger competitors. Globe Business provides effective, reliable and affordable solutions that help SMBs operate their business simpler, more efficiently and at less cost.

“There are several areas where Globe Business renews and applies its commitment to SMBs. These areas are those where SMBs telecoms needs are most crucial to the success of their operations and their profitability,” said
Escosa.

Call and text plans
Using Globe Business call and text plans, entprepreneurs can save as much as 70% per month on their mobile phone bills. These plans are bundled with unlimited talk and/or texting features that can be customized to fit an SME’s needs. There are also plans that include mobile phones in their packages.

These plans include: 1) Globe Business Plus, which offers unlimited talk and texting features for as low as P499 per month; 2) Globe Business Company Capped Plans, which sets a flexible cost ceiling for a business’s mobile lines; and  3) AutoloadMAX Corporate Edition, which helps manage, schedule, and automatically reload Prepaid credits directly to employees’ cell phones.

Affordable, high-volume SMS
The TxtConnect service provided by Globe Business lets SMBs broadcast high-volume text campaigns through the Internet. With just one send, TxtConnect broadcasts text blasts to pre-determined groups of recipients, including customers, suppliers, business partners,  and employees.  It is also more affordable compared t regular text messaging or phone calls.

Subscribing to TxtConnect lets entrepreneurs save as much as 35% in their text messaging cost compared to the regular text messaging charges.

Direct Internet Lite
Global communications through email, social networks, and Internet-based chat or voice calls—these are all necessities nowadays for any business  that wants to achieve sustained growth.  The more than two billion Internet users in the world represent a huge market by themselves.

Using Direct Internet Lite from Globe Business, SMBs can increase their market reach by putting their business online while making business communication fast, secure, and reliable.  Direct Internet Lite is especially designed as an affordable yet powerful Internet connection for SMBs.

Direct Internet Lite uses a leased line set-up with basic Internet connectivity for both Foreign and Domestic routes.  It’s available in a range of bandwidth options from 2,000 Mbps to 10,000 Mbps. Now SMBs can enjoy always-on, affordable, fast, and powerful Internet connectivity that easily streams huge amounts of data, from documents to images, to audio and video files.

Data storage
SMBs’ vital data and ICT can now be stored and secured through Globe Business’ Data Center—a technologically advanced, highly secured facility built for storing and managing a company’s mission critical information.

Globe Business Data Center’s wide range of services includes co-location, dedicated service hosting, LAN-based Internet, media storage, disaster recovery seats, recovery services, and email hosting.  The facility prevents the loss data due to a computer virus, deliberate hacking, spying or data theft; or computer hardware/system failure.

Any business that relies on and processes huge amounts of confidential information—including financial institutions, government agencies, hospitals, schools, hotels, resorts, restaurant chains--will benefit from this service.

By storing, managing, and securing vital business information through Globe Data Center, SMBs can make more critical decisions faster and more reliably,

Fleet management service
SMBs can better manage their fleet of company vehicles through a real-time tracking solution provided by Globe Business called “Fleet Management Service.” It uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to monitor the precise location of assets like trucks, cargo and products. It helps entrepreneurs ensure that these arrive at their destination/delivery point on time.

Fleet management may be accessed and used through any computer with Internet connection. This tracking system increases the efficiency of deliveries and helps reduce fuel and vehicle maintenance expenses, This service is vital to manufacturing, retail, distribution and other businesses that rely on the transport of goods.

Fixed Assets Management
When it comes to fixed assets, Globe Business provides SMBs with the “Fixed Assets Management” solution. This service allows business owners to monitor the functioning, operation, maintenance, and security of a company's fixed assets. Such assets would include freezers, vendo machines, factory machinery, ATMs, computer servers, and other equipment.

Using this system, the productivity of such assets may be determined through their status; output projections may also be made based on the data collected from these assets.

Through Fixed Assets Management, SMEs can minimize machine downtime by undertaking preventive maintenance based on the collected data on the machine's status. As a result, operating costs due to frequent on-site inspections are reduced.

The Globe Business Fixed Assets Management is ideal for restaurants and fast food chains; vendo operators; banks; factories and other businesses engaged in manufacturing.

Security and surveillance
Globe Business offers SMEs a Security and Surveillance service for greater control over the security of company sites. Security and Surveillance installs security devices (such as motion and door sensors, panic buttons) that are linked to Globe M2M  (machine-to-machine) Management System.

For example, if an intruder breaks into a company site, the M2M security devices send out alerts through the computer network. This signals the system to deploy an emergency response team to deal with the threat.

M2M solutions are ideal for a wide range of businesses—including the food and/or service industries (restaurants, resorts, hotels, etc.); financial enterprises (banks, pawnshops, etc.; manufacturing, distribution; practically any business that benefits from machine-to-machine networking and pro-active security.

“Globe Business is always here to provide better ways for entrepreneurs to make their business more efficient and profitable,” said Escosa.

Amina Aranaz-Alunan balances her life as mom, educator, and entrepreneur—thanks to Globe Business

As an entrepreneur, bag designer, and style icon Amina Aranaz-Alunan is a respected name in fashion circles; to the students of SOFA (the School of Fashion and the Arts, of which she is a co-founder), she is a tireless and generous mentor—but Amina admits that while she is passionate about everything she does, what she looks forward to is coming home and being a mother to her three kids.

Designer, model, educator, fashion icon, and Globe Business Ambassador Amina Aranaz-Alunan Amina, manages her various roles while living a balancing work with family life. She stays grounded and balanced through efficient time management and using modern telecoms technology from Globe Business.

“I’m amazed at seeing how our students change and bloom. I love seeing them transform year after year. They walk in SOFA with nothing but their passion and raw talent and emerge quipped with a set of design, technical and business skills.  They are more confident, focused,  ready, and driven to embrace their career goals and challenges,” said SOFA Director Amina Aranaz-Alunan, who is a Globe Business Ambassador.

“To be able to fulfill all my responsibilities and still have time for my children, I always plan my schedule very carefully,” she said, adding that attending to her husband Rafa Alunan and their kids is always a priority even in the midst of all her work.

Teaching fashion

Recently, it was Amina the teacher and school director that had to step up during the graduation of seventeen SOFA students. They all completed SOFA’s Fashion Design and Marketing program—and Amina is proud of all of them.

According to Amina, she feels a special kind of fulfillment as a teacher when she sees hard-working students finish a program.

“I’m amazed at seeing how our students change and bloom. I love seeing them transform year after year. They walk in sofa with nothing but their passion and raw talent and emerge a different person. Equipped with a set of design, technical and business skills, they are more confident, focused and aware of their direction and capabilities. They are ready and driven to embrace their career goals and challenges,” said Amina.

At SOFA, students are taught the entrepreneurial aspects of fashion as well. Amina said that these subjects are necessary for anyone who wants to be a professional in the fashion industry—something that could be surprising for some students.

“Admittedly our students in SOFA like the design subjects more. However, they do appreciate and value the importance of the business subjects as well. We want to make them understand that any creative endeavor must always be supported by a business backbone for it to thrive and grow,” she said.

Balancing act

Amina, who is also a Globe Business Ambassador, has a formidable workload as a school director and faculty member at SOFA. According to her, she is able to stay grounded and balanced—able to do her work and take care of her family—through a) managing her schedule well; and b) using modern telecoms technology.

“I play various roles in the school: over-all vision building, fashion department chairperson, teacher, marketing, and admissions.  Carefully planning my schedule is crucial. Also, being accessible via cellphone and the Internet allows me to manage the school even when I am elsewhere,” she said.

Amina said that Globe Business solutions and services help her fulfill her passion as a teacher while still letting her be an entrepreneur, wife, and mother. “Globe Business solutions allows me to attend to my various roles without being absent from my other responsibilities. It keeps me connected to all the parts of my life,” she said.

Solutions for SMBs

According to Manny Escosa, Globe Business Marketing Head for SMBs, multi-tasking entrepreneurs like Amina can benefit from several Globe Business solutions that will help them live a more balanced life.

“Globe Business is providing easy, affordable, and reliable solutions to Filipino entrepreneurs who need to get several things done within a short period of time. An SMB owner’s time is very valuable—not only to his business but also to his family. Through our solutions, we are empowering Filipino entrepreneurs to be more flexible and in control of their time. In this way, they can grow their business while still having the opportunity to enjoy life to the full,” said Escosa.

For example, entrepreneurs may avail of TxtConnect, which lets them send a high volume of text messages. It’s a Web-based service that broadcasts SMS messages to groups of people using a computer with an Internet connection. This makes it easier to send SMS blasts in just one broadcast, with just a few keystrokes on the computer.

Messages sent through TxtConnect are secured through its masking technology—this ensures that the recipients only get official and appropriate messages, instead of spam or other unwelcome message blasts.

TxtConnect also charges rates that are much lower than regular text messaging or phone calls. Subscribing to TxtConnect results in as much as 35 percent in saved cost compared to the regular text messaging service charges.

Another solution for entrepreneurs is Business Capped Plans. These plans set a cost ceiling for the use of the company’s mobile phone accounts every month.

A Business Capped Plan provides a monthly load allowance that serves as a cap or limit on company mobile phone credits. For example, if a Business Capped Plan has a monthly allowance of P600 per month, the company only pays for that amount.

Business Capped Plans have an Unli Call feature that allows unlimited calls within the Globe and TM network.  Those who subscribe to Business Capped Plans would also receive mobile phones as part of the package.

In case a Business Capped Plan’s allowance is used up, an employee can simply reload his SIM with regular Globe credits. Business Capped Plans also allow users to avail of Globe’s various prepaid promos, like Supersurf and various Unli services.

Home grown

Amina knows the difficulties of building a career in fashion firsthand.  After finishing her university studies, she worked at a stylist for a Filipino fashion magazine and even did a bit of modeling—but she knew that she still had a lot to learn. Eventually, she went to Milan to study fashion at the Instituto Maranggoni.

When she returned to the Philippines, everything she learned about fashion as an art and as a craft came in handy when she began designing and producing the ARANAZ brand of stylish bags. Thanks to Amina’s creative, innovative, and beautiful designs, ARANAZ bags are now much sought-after fashion must-haves—in the Philippines and overseas, as well.

Now that she’s become a fashion icon, Amina wants to help out other Filipinos who want to have a career in the fashion business—but don’t know how to get the proper education and training. Her approach was to establish what is, arguably, the best fashion school in the Philippines. It’s her way of giving back to the fashion industry which has been good to her.

According to Amina, founding and running SOFA isn’t easy—and was very challenging in the beginning.

“Running the school is a lot of pressure on us. Our goal is to contribute to the growth and progress of our local creative industries; this is what keeps us going. We hope that our country will be able to produce an increasing number of creative professionals and homegrown brands that, eventually, will reach the world market. SOFA has exceeded my expectations. It started out as a risk, now it is a risk that I am glad that I took,” she said.

Four hot OPM acts to thrill audiences in election sorties

FOUR hot, exciting and crowd-drawing Original Pilipino Music (OPM) acts present a quality, cost-effective investment for any candidate during the election campaign.

Young, talented, and oozing with mass appeal, these four acts are a glimpse of the future of the Philippine music industry.

We’re talking about rock bands Letter Day Story; and Line of 7; balladeer-songwriter Myrus; and  boy band 1:43 (pronounced as “one forty-three”). These four, who are all managed by public relations and social media expert Chris Cahilig, have been making waves across all media platforms.

LETTER DAY STORY, composed of rockers Aldrick “Dex” Yu, John Oliver “Oli” Agustin,  Chrisanthony “Not” Vinzons, and Emil Joseph “EJ” Arabit, won the Best Rock/Alternative Recording trophy at the 2012 Awit Awards for their song “Save Me.” They won over the other nominees, who are all more established and highly-respected bands and solo artists.

Their latest digital single, “Maiwang Mag-isa” written by Agustin is currently receiving a lot of airplay over radio stations nationwide.

Earlier, Letter Day Story also won at the 2010 Awit Awards for their song “Martilyo,” which they recorded with Gloc-9, also for Best Rock/Alternative Recording.

They’ve recorded 11 singles that all made it to the Pinoy MYX Countdown. They released three albums namely “Sulat Aral Kuwento,” “Sama-Sama,” and “Breakaway” all from Sony Music. Likewise, they endorsed brands including Revicon Forte, Mossimo, Vans and AXN.

They’ve also appeared in many TV shows including “Umagang Kay Ganda”, “Unang Hirit”, “Music Uplate @ ABS-CBN” and have performed in major shows organized by MTV, MYX, and Alliance Francais (Fete dela Musique).

MYRUS, who delighted listeners with his remake of the 1970s love song “Sayang” (originally by Claire dela Fuente) has reinvented himself from being one of our most favorite romantic balladeers into one of the country’s most sought-after singer-songwriters.

In 2012, Myrus has released a critically acclaimed album titled “Wanted: Just Alive” featuring his original compositions “Pusong Lito” and “Sige Na Nga.” An intriguing song about being torn between two beloved, “Pusong Lito” became a monster hit and was named as the No 5 most popular OPM song in 2012 by the Philippine Music Charts. It was also used as a soundtrack of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Teen Edition in ABS-CBN and its official music video and lyric videos has garnered over 10 million views in Youtube so far.

In a few weeks, the public will hear three of Myrus’ compositions as soundtracks of the most anticipated primetime soaps in ABS-CBN. His original composition for his co-talents 1:43, “Sa Isang Sulyap Mo” will be one of the soundtracks of Coco Martin’s new fantaserye “Juan dela Cruz” while “Pusong Lito” and his new hit single “Hiling” will be included in Angeline Quinto’s romantic comedy soap, “Kahit Konting Pagtingin.”

Myrus has proven himself not only as a singer, songwriter, vocal arranger, producer and creative artist but also as an effective and dedicated advocate for the local music industry. He earned everyone’s respect as an OPM activist during his stint as the Project Head of “Tunog Natin.” In December, Myrus was declared as a UH Morning Star by the GMA-7 morning show, “Unang Hirit.”

Myrus is acclaimed as “The Sentimental Prince of OPM” because of his romantic flair and smooth vocals. He has won prestigious awards including a Gold Record for his debut album “Love Cycle” under Sony Music, an ASAP 24K Artist Award, the Top Entertainment Award for Best RnB Artist and nominations in the 2010 Awit Awards and the First Philippine Radio Music Awards.

1:43 (ONE FORTY-THREE) is currently the hottest and most popular boy band in the Philippines, and they have steadily and impressively expanded their fan base in just two years.

The 1:43 hit, “Sa Isang Sulyap Mo” has topped numerous year-end music charts of 2012 and the song’s music video was hailed as one of the Most Viral Videos of 2012 according to YouTube Philippines. To date, its official music video, reposts and lyric videos have received over 30 million views on Youtube. It is also one of the most downloaded songs in MyMusicStore, Videokeman, iTunes Philippines, and Sun Cellular and ranked No 2 in the Philippine Music Charts tally for 2012, next to Gloc-9’s “Sirena.”

The best thing about 1:43 is that they are living proof that Filipino talents can successfully hold their own against the K-Pop fever. Their powerful mass appeal led to their guestings in “ASAP,” “KrisTV,” and in “Sarah G” to name a few. 1:43 have been declared as one of the UH Morning Stars of the GMA-7 morning show, “Unang Hirit”.

Composed of Anjo Resurreccion; Goldmon Aquino; Kent Malunda; and Yuki Sakamoto have recorded two albums-- “Time for Love” and “Sa Isang Sulyap Mo” under MCA Music and were included in OPM compilation albums “Tunog Natin: Songs from Home” and “40 Most Requested Love Songs.” They have been nominated twice in the Awit Awards for Best Christmas Song and Best New Group.

The boys of 1:43 are expected to duplicate their success in 2012 with the chart-topping single “Halika Na” and numerous product endorsements line-up.

LINE OF 7 is composed of four good looking and exceptionally talented young musicians-- Argee Golding (lead vocals), a Taekwondo athlete from the University of Santo Tomas; Alex Dieudonne (vocals/ lead guitars), a Filipino-French pastry chef who finished a culinary program in Le Cordon Bleu Dusit, Thailand; Seth Torralba (bass), a multimedia arts student from the DLSU-College of St. Benilde; and Matt Ong (drums); a campus heartthrob.
A winning mix of the boy band and pop band formula, the boys of Line of 7 are the perfect fit for the young, free-spirited, fun-loving, and carefree Filipino audiences today. Their first single, “Langit,” is set to be released in March 2013.

The band’s name, Line of 7,  is a funny pun on the academic standing of students:  the expression “Line of seven” refers to the (barely) passing grade given to students by their teachers. When it comes to pop-rock music, however, Line of 7 have a cum laude-level of standing as they give life and expression to the youth’s dreams and aspirations, resonating a youthful vibe and appeal.

With the popularity of foreign musical acts in the Philippines, it’s inspiring to know that there are still original Filipino acts like these four, that are going strong and holding up high the banner for OPM. Their Filipino cultural appeal makes them ideal talents for any election sortie.

Five ways to make business less complicated—with help from Globe Business

BEING IN BUSINESS for 20 years has taught entrepreneur and Globe Business Ambassador Rose Ann Bautista about the need to simplify her business, while at the same time sustaining its growth. Rose Ann, FINO Leatherware’s Vice-President for Marketing and Retail Operations, shares some of the things she learned about how to make business simpler, more efficient, and cost-effective.

“FINO Leatherware is into manufacturing and retail. We do the whole nine yards, from finding materials to ordering them, to the actual manufacture at our factory, and then making deliveries to clients and to our retail outlets. We deal with so many suppliers and partners throughout the whole process.

“We have about a hundred or more employees—80 at our factory and and 20 to 30 at our stores. As you can imagine, we have to deal with so many challenges in our operations. Complications are part of the game. That’s why we had to find a way to operate that helps us prevent, reduce, or cope with these complications,” said Rose Ann.

Being informed, hands-on
According to Rose Ann, she’s “hands-on” not in the sense that she’s physically present at her factory.  Rather, she always keeps herself informed about business operations even on-the-go, thanks to telecoms technology from Globe Business.

“What I do is I always make sure that I know everything about what’s happening in the business, while also having time for myself. This is only possible through the use of my cellphone, the Internet, and my laptop.  It’s only when I’m informed that I can make the right decisions and quickly respond to any problems,” she said.

Communication is vital
Rose Ann says that she would not be able to run the business without a reliable, quick, and convenient means to communicate with clients, suppliers, partners, and employees.

“I’ve been using Globe solutions for a long time. When I started using Globe, they were still offering plans at 100, 200 pesos. So that’s how long I’ve stayed with their services. I wouldn’t be able to run the business effectively without them.

“Since we practically do the entire process, from finding materials to making the products, to distribution and retail, it’s very important to communicate with everyone involved. Otherwise, we’d encounter delays, make errors, be much slower to react,” she said.

Rose Ann says that she depends on her cellphone and mobile Internet connection to ensure smooth operations. “We also use Globe Business TxtConnect to keep in touch with our customers. It’s a very effective means to touch base and connect with them,” she said.

Globe Business TxtConnect is the most effective solution for sending high-volume text messages and SMS blasts to groups of people.  It’s be used to make SMS broadcasts to customers, employees, and a group of business associates.  One can send announcements, advertising, greetings, reminders, and urgent alerts easily, fast, and conveniently because it is Internet based. All it takes is a few keystrokes on the computer to reach a pre-determined group of people. Globe Business TxtConnect also charges much lower rates for text messages, compared to using a cellular phone.

“With so many telecoms products available today, and with the advantages they bring to our business, we really can’t run business without them. I send emails through my cellphone. I receive reports. I can call the factory to give instructions. I can even write letters using the cellphone and mobile Internet,” she said.

Establish culture
According to Rose Ann, many complications can be prevented by establishing a reliable system that everyone can follow.

“In our business operations, we’ve developed and established a system that already runs itself most of the time. Actually, we started out with a system of operations but we’ve already gone beyond that—we’ve leveled up to the point where we can say that we already have a company culture,” she said.

Rose Ann explained that establishing a company culture creates more confidence on the part of the entrepreneur and the employees that everyone is doing things properly. The culture integrates and cements  proven and effective operational procedures, so that they become second nature to everyone.

“When this culture is established, there’s a reduced need for the entrepreneur to be physically present at the office or factory premises. We already know that our people are doing things properly—we need to still monitor them, of course, but no longer in such a tedious, micro fashion,” she said.

Trust and respect, she said, are vital to company culture. “We need to develop mutual trust and respect between employees and owners. As owners, we also need to show them that we are professional, that we are team players, and be good examples to our employees,” she added.

Research
In order to sustain and grow their business, Rosa Ann never stops doing research and getting creative inspiration. She said that her Globe-powered cellular phone is very effective at this.

“I remember years ago when, when I saw a design in a magazine, a design that inspired new ideas, I had to tear off the magazine page. Nowadays, all I need to do is take a photo of the design on my phone. Then I can send the photo to my partners or to the factory.

“This technology helps me do research even when I’m on vacation. I see things that inspire me and I can take photos or type notes in my cellphone. It’s a fun way to do research and doesn’t feel like work at all,” she explained.

Intuition and planning
Rose Ann also notes that there’s really a cycle in business. There are good times and bad and the best way to cope with this cycle is to plan ahead and create back-up, contingency measures.
“I notice that the business changes every ten years. The market also changes. For example, in year 2000, our market shifted. Then in 2011, it shifted again. Today, the fashion and the taste that prevail in the market is younger and funkier. That’s why we have to identify trends and anticipate what the market wants and what it will need.

“To do this, we have to do analysis then forward planning. We also have to have back-up plans that we can quickly implement if things do go exactly as we anticipated at first. When we plan ahead and have back-up measures, we can respond to challenges and changes quickly,” she said.

She also added that long experience in the business sharpens her intuition. “I’ve developed a feel for how things are going. Even when I still don’t have all the facts, I can sense that something’s wrong. This is what I mean when I say that we need to have a feel for the business,” she said.

For Rose Ann, all of these steps are founded on information and communication. “We can only implement these steps if we are informed enough and if we are able to communicate quickly and effectively with our people,” she said.

She also said that new technologies are a big help to sustaining and growing a business. “Right now, for example, we keep track of deliveries using our cellphones. We call each other to know where the deliveries are and what time we can expect them to arrive. But I’ve heard that there’s now a Globe Business service that keeps track of company vehicles and employees using GPS. If our operations grow to the point where this service is needed, then it’s good that we have this option,” she said.

Rose Ann was referring to the Globe Business Fleet Management System. This service uses the GPS technology and the Globe network to keep track of the location of company vehicles. With this service, business owners can regularly keep track of where their vehicles are headed, determine the best routes as well as alternative routes, and also know what time the vehicles arrived at the delivery point.

Globe Business reaffirms commitment to make business better for Filipino entrepreneurs

Globe Business stores and protects Small and Medium Businesses’ vital files through Globe Business Data Centers—technologically advanced, highly secured facilities built for storing and managing a company’s mission critical information. Globe Business Data Centers enable co-location, dedicated service hosting, LAN-based Internet, media storage, disaster recovery services, and email hosting.  They prevent the loss of data due to a computer virus, deliberate hacking, spying or data theft; or computer hardware/system failure, saving time and money

Globe Business reaffirms its commitment to Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) by finding ways for them to do business more efficiently and help drive their business’ growth by using telecommunications technology. Globe Business call, text and data plans let SMBs cut the cost on their mobile phone bills and customize plans according to their needs

As the year comes to a close, Globe Business is doubling its efforts to provide Filipino entrepreneurs operating small and medium businesses or SMBs a complete range of solutions that can help maximize their business operations at lesser cost.

Affordable, high-volume SMS
The TxtConnect service provided by Globe Business lets SMBs broadcast high-volume text campaigns through the Internet.
